Brothers,

What a winter this has been! Between the sunny spring like days followed by snow, ice, and rain, we have seen our share of challenges this winter. As we move into spring and warmer weather, I want to invite those of you who have not had an opportunity to sit in lodge for a period of time. For some of you, the lodge may have gone through a big transition since the last time you visited. We encourage you to come out for dinner, partake in fellowship and reconnect with the Brothers you may not have seen or talked to for some time. Our newly installed line stands ready and would like nothing more than to spend time you and learn more about the craft. It’s understandable some of you live out of the local area and may not have a chance to attend, but the invite always stands! Please let us know if you if are going to be in the area on vacation or just in town for a short visit, we would still like to see you. And as always, please let me know if there family illnesses or any Brothers needing support or encouragement from the lodge. Look to the South.

Shawn Cooper, JW

Brethren,

I would first like to thank you for the honor of serving as your Junior Warden.  As our Lodge continues to grow and become stronger with each passing year, it’s a direct reflection and testament to the hard work placed by everyone.  I look forward to sitting in Lodge with you and working to raise our newest members to Master Masons.  Additionally, one of my duties is to tend to our Brothers’ and their family members in times of illness.  If you know of anyone who is ill and in need of a call or card, please let me know.  Our responsibility as a Lodge is to make sure we are there for our Brothers’ and family when needed.  And my job is to reach out to them and let them know the Lodge carries their thoughts and prayers.

I look forward to a new and exciting year with St. Columba!

Brethren,

I would like to express my congratulations to the Lodge and all the brothers who participated in the recently conducted raising of Brother Mughal. It was truly an honor to participate in a Master Mason Degree with only St. Columba Lodge members filling the chairs. I am looking forward to continuing this growth of the Lodge.

As we go into the summer months and the lodge goes dark, please remember, even though St. Columba is not holding lodge meetings, we are still available for each other. As such, please don’t hesitate to let me (or any lodge officer) know of any issues which the Lodge may provide assistance with. Everyone have a safe, happy and enjoyable summer and I look forward to fellowshipping with you in the fall.

Finally, remember the important upcoming Lodge events, the Blue Crabs game, Southern Maryland Masonic Picnic and St. Columba’s hosting of the Fellowcraft Degree during the Summer School of Instruction in July!

Fraternally,

William “Bill” Zarychta, JW
